Give thanks: Council for Exceptional Children holds an exceptional event

The Council for Exceptional Children, or the CEC, held a Thanksgiving dinner last night at 6 p.m.

Around sixty people attended the event, which was held in PUB Room 2.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie were served to the guests, who not only enjoyed the food, but games and activities, such  as “turkey bowling” and writing down and pinning things they were thankful for, onto a paper turkey.

“We’re willing to sacrifice anything to make sure these children have a good time,” said Sarah Cox, LHU senior and secretary of the CEC.

The CEC is a SAS funded group, whose membership recently tripled from ten to 30 people.

The organization holds programs twice a month for special needs children from ages 14-38, as well as senior citizens.

In the past the CEC has held events such as a Halloween Party and kareoke.

The Council for exceptional children meets once a month in Robinson 206 on Thursday nights.
