Lady Eagles extend winning streak with comeback over Rams

The Lock Haven University volleyball team (5-6) completed a three-set comeback to down Shepherd University (4-7) on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup at Thomas Fieldhouse.

After dropping the first two sets, the Lady Eagles battled back to take the final three in dramatic fashion (18-25, 25-27, 25-14, 25-16, 15-5).

Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) led The Haven with 18 kills and six blocks on the night.

Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) also had a strong match for LHU, tallying 17 kills.

Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa/Cardinal O’Hara) set up The Haven offense all night and recorded 41 assists in the match.

Garrity added three kills and seven digs.

Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) had a strong game for LHU, tallying a match-high 23 digs.

Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Monica Brown (Omaha, Neb./Iowa Western C.C.) recorded 12 and 10 digs respectively.

The Lady Eagles return to the court this Friday and Saturday (September 21-22) when they host PSAC crossover action.  Six matches will be played in total throughout the two days, with LHU playing in three.  The Haven will take on Edinboro (11:30 a.m.) and Gannon (7:30 p.m.) on Friday and will face Mercyhurst (3 p.m.)
