Pack mentality wins the race: Bald Eagles triumph at Gettysburg Invitational; Lady Eagles place seventh

The No. 13 Lock Haven University men’s cross country team had nine runners finish among the race’s top-17 finishers as the Bald Eagles took home the team title on Saturday at the Gettysburg Invitational.

The Haven men swept spots 10-17 including the 8-14 scoring positions.

Tyler Hileman (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was the top Bald Eagle after leading the dominate Haven-pack through the 8K course in 26:02.

The Bald Eagles’ nine-member pack was separated by just six seconds.

The Bad Eagles 50 points helped take down second-place Bucknell (79 points) and Shippensburg (122 points), who rounded out the top-three teams.

The Haven women turned in their best effort of the year and finished seventh out of 36 teams with 215 points.

The Lady Eagles were led by Jessica McDonald (Marietta, Pa./Donegal), who was 20th overall in the 394-runner field. She covered the 6K course in 23:23.

Shippensburg took home the team title on the women’s side.

Lock Haven returns to action  Saturday, October 20 at the 2012 PSAC Championships hosted by Slippery Rock.
