5 tips for staying fit this fall

Staying fit and in shape in any season is tough for most of us, especially as we watch the last rays of the sun sink away to be replaced by the bitter cold. But you don’t have to let your fitness slip away! These 5 tips are easy and will help you stay healthy this fall.

1. Plan Ahead

Decide on your indoor or outdoor exercise in advance. Decide which time of day is best for you and fits into your schedule and plan accordingly. Don’t use the weather as an excuse! If it is sunny, run outside, if it is raining the Rec Center is open all day and late at night too!

2. Willingness to Change

Be willing to change your routine depending on the seasons. Changing your routine can help the body burn more calories and avoid boredom. Change up your workout exercises; it isn’t healthy to work the same muscle groups every day.

3. Workout DVD

Have an efficient and effective DVD in your room, like Insanity or a yoga DVD. This can come in handy if the day got away from you, or if it’s dark or you have no desire to go to the gym.

4. Fuel Your Body

Lots of fruits, vegetables, and water will help your body stay energized longer. You don’t have to let your fitness go through the winter. Try and find a healthy alternative in Bentley; steamed vegetables and fruits are always available.

5. Use Your Resources

There are plenty of exercise classes available on campus including Zumba and yoga! Find out the times and get involved!
