Monroe captures second straight title-Bald Eagles cruise to third-place finish at PSAC Championships

Junior Alex Monroe (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) won his second straight individual PSAC title, leading the No. 13 Lock Haven University men’s cross country team to a third-place team finish on Saturday at the 2012 PSAC Championships.

Monroe cruised to his second straight conference title, covering the 8K course in 25:08. He won by nearly 11 full seconds.

Freshman Dylan Mountain (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) continues to impress and earned All-PSAC honors with an 11th place showing (26:08.9).

Mike Garraway (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Tyler Hileman (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) finished 23rd and 25th for Lock Haven.

Mike Nemeth (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was 28th overall to round out the Bald Eagles top-5 finishers today.

Edinboro won the men’s team title with 34 points. The Fighting Scots bested East Stroudsburg (59 points), who took second overall. Lock Haven was third with 88 total points.

The Lock Haven University women’s cross country team finished 11th at the PSAC Championships.

Leading the way for the Lady Eagles was Laura Histand (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and Jessica McDonald (Marietta, Pa./Donegal), who finished 45th and 46th with times of 24:14.4 and 24:15.5. respectively.

Ashley Daniels (Danville, Pa./Danville) was Lock Haven’s third woman as she took 52nd overall with a time of 24:20.5. Shippensburg won the women’s team race.

Lock Haven returns to action Saturday, October 27, when they host the third annual Go Fast River Run at West Branch Cross Country Course.
