With no time left on the clock, Clarion scored giving the Golden Eagles a thrilling 30-28 come-from-behind win over the Lock Haven University football team at Hubert Jack Stadium Saturday in PSAC West play.

Haven quarterback Jarrett Kratzer (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) passed for 267 yards and three touchdowns and the Bald Eagles (0-8, 0-5 PSAC West) defense was sensational, but LHU was edged on the final play of the game.

Trailing 28-24, Clarion (4-4, 2-3 PSAC West) got the ball back with 1:26 left in the game.

Clarion marched 90 yards on 13 plays and with 2.3 seconds left in the game, QB Ben Fiscus hit Anthony Becoate for the three-yard, game-winning TD. Fiscus took the snap and it looked as if the Bald Eagles were going to bring him down before he fired back across his body and hit Becoate in the endzone.

With 1:26 left in the game, Krazter hit Jesse Hoover (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) on a 22-yard pass to make it 28-24, LHU. It was the second TD catch of the game for Hoover.

Kratzer finished the game 14-for-27 for 267 yards and three touchdowns.

Hoover finished with 100 yards on three catches.

Much to the delight of the large Haven Homecoming crown, Lock Haven was quick to score as Bernard Smack (State College, Pa./Shippensburg Univ.) took the opening kickoff of the game 88 yards for a score.

It marked the first time LHU had a returned a kickoff for a TD since 2003.

Lock Haven trailed 17-7 late in the first half, but The Haven got on the board before halftime. With 1:57 left in the half, Kratzer and Hoover hooked up for a 60-yard TD reception. Clarion led 17-14 at the break.

Ian Smith (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) also caught a TD pass. His 18-yard catch with 2:18 left in the third quarter made it a three-point game with Clarion up, 24-21.

The effort of the Bald Eagles on defense was just as impressive for The Haven.

Linebacker Ryan Good (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) led the way with a game-high 13 tackles. He made 10 solo stops and had three tackles for a loss.

Derrick Watkins (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and James Goins (Marion Heights, Pa./Mount Carmel) each finished with eight tackles.

Tyrek Morgan (Pittsburgh/Oliver) had a strong game and finished with four tackles (three solo), two of which went for a loss, one forced fumble and one interception.

George Christas’s (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) strong play in the secondary kept LHU in the game. He made three tackles (two solo), had an interception and made two key pass breakups.

Tyrail Morgan (Pittsburgh/Oliver) and Skyler Wool (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) each had a sack.

Fiscus was 26-42 for 324 yards and three TDs for Clarion.

Lock Haven returns to action Saturday, October 27, at 7 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Gannon.
