Cody Wheeler (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) and Harry Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell) took second overall on Saturday at 133 and 285, respectively, leading the Lock Haven University wrestling team at the seventh annual Mat Town Open.
The Bald Eagles showed their depth at 157 as Jake Kemerer (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Aaron Fry (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) took fourth and sixth, respectively.
Aaron McKinney (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) also took fourth (165) for Lock Haven, while Phil Sprenkle (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown) added a sixth-place finish at 197.
Wheeler went 3-1 on the day after a pair of pins and an 8-6 decision on the way to the finals. He lost to Mark Grey, 9-6 in the finals.
Turner marched into the finals after posting three straight wins. Turner, ranked No. 30 at 285, won 7-0, 6-0 and 5-3 before falling to Penn State’s James Lawson (#22), 4-1 in the finals.
Kaleb LeMaire competed unattached today for Lock Haven and finished second at 125.
The Bald Eagles return to action on Sunday, December 2 at the Nittany Lion Open, hosted by No. 1 Penn State.
