The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams turned in another sensational effort this weekend.

Competing at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan the Bald Eagles hit another NCAA provisional mark in the distance medley relay with a season-best, 9:58.81.

Seth Robbins (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led off the DMR with a 3:05.5, 1,200-meter leg before handing the baton to Sean Harper (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley), who sprinted to a sizzling 400-meter split of 47.8. Matt Guiod (Lincoln, Maine/Mattanawcook Academy) turned a very solid 800-meter leg, splitting 1:56.2 and Alex Monroe (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) brought the Bald Eagles home with a sensational mile leg (4:09.3).

The Bald Eagles finished third overall in the DMR and their 9:48.81 is the sixth fasted time in Division II this season.

The Bald Eagles also got a tremendous effort in both the 3,000-meter run and the mile at the GVSU Big Meet.

Mitch Miller (Morrisville, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) led the way in the 3K as he finished seventh with a time of 8:33.91, while Dylan Mountain (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Ben Robison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) clocked 8:39.44 and 8:44.46, respectively.

Monroe led the way in the mile as he took home the win with an NCAA provisional mark of 4:14.00. Robbins was fourth with a time of 4:17.70 and Mike Nemeth (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished sixth with a time of 4:18.03. All three guys hit PSAC qualifying marks and established new personal best time. Monroe’s time is the second fastest time in the PSAC and all three Bald Eagles rank among the conference’s top-eight guys.

Harper came back after the DMR and took sixth in the open-4 with time of a 49.46, which was just off an NCAA provisional mark after converting it because of Grand Valley’s oversized 200-meter indoor track.

Brice Beals (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) led the way for the Bald Eagles today at the Bucknell Winter Classic. The freshman threw a season-best 52-03.25 to take eighth in the men’s weight throw.

On the women’s side, the Lady Eagles were tough in the field events at Bucknell.

Brittany Whitmer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 5-5.00 and Fallon Heddings (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) placed third in the triple jump (37-03.25).

Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell) was sixth in the 3K with a time of 10:21.39.

Lock Haven returns to action next Saturday (Feb. 16) at the Cornell Deneault Invite.
