The LHU swim team started the 2013 PSAC Championships at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa. last Thursday (Feb. 14) finishing sixth in the 200 medley relay.
LHU ended up taking sixth overall with an NCAA “B” cut time of 1:47.95.
Kayla Schnars (Howard, Pa./Bellefonte), Laura Stephens (West Chester, Pa./Univ. of Vermont), Brittany Rehrig (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) and Carley Nitchie (Forest Hill, Md./Bel Air) competed for Lock Haven.
Senior, Brittany Rehrig, (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), lead the way finishing sixth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.18 (NCAA “B”).
Rehrig went into the finals as the fourth seed after swimming 24.08 (NCAA “B”) in the prelims earlier that morning. Her swim was 0.1 off of her career best.
In the 200-freestyle relay, the Eagles finished eighth with an NCAA “B” time of 1:37.83.
Rehrig beat the school record in the 50-free swimming 23.19.
Rehrig took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.41, NCAA “B”) and came in sixth in the 100-yard butterfly at a time of 58.70.
Shannon Milstead (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) started Lock Haven off in the 800-yard freestyle relay team with a 200-split of 1:58.60, the fourth fastest time in school history.
The Lock Haven University swim team concluded their four-day meet on Sunday finishing 11th overall.
LHU claimed 11th place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:39.03. Kristin Taylor (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) had the second fastest time in school history and finished 12th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.97).
The Men’s and Women’s 2013 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships will be held from March 6-9 in Birmingham, Ala. at the CrossPlex Complex.
