The Lock Haven University baseball team (11-14, 6-6 PSAC) dropped both games of a doubleheader on the road to Mercyhurst (21-13, 6-6 PSAC) today in a PSAC West matchup.

After taking both games of yesterday’s doubleheader at home, the Bald Eagles failed to get anything going today, as LHU fell 6-0 in game one and 8-2 in game two.

LHU recorded five hits in game one, but could not manage to get a run home.

Dakota Roof (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) led LHU with two hits in the game, as he went 2-for-3.

Tyler Yesensky (Endwell, N.Y./Old Dominion Univ.), Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) and Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) each had one hit for The Haven.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) started on the mound for the Bald Eagles.  He allowed four earned runs and struck out one in 3.1 innings of work.

Garrett Shnyder (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) threw the final 2.2 innings in relief.

Mercyhurst’s Jon Klein struck out five in the complete-game shutout.

The Bald Eagles dropped game two, 8-2.

Lock Haven trailed 4-2 through 5.5 innings of play, but Mercyhurst tacked on four insurance runs in its half of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) recorded two of LHU’s four hits in game two, including a solo homerun in the sixth inning.  Hartman went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

The homerun was Hartman’s first of his career.

Zuback and Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) each had hits for LHU.

Zuback was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and Kyne went 1-for-3.

Madison Neddo (Earville, Md./Coppin State Univ) threw all six innings for LHU and allowed just one earned run in the loss.  He struck out three.

Lock Haven and Mercyhurst remained tied for fourth in the PSAC West after the weekend series split.

The Bald Eagles are back in action Friday, April 12 when LHU hosts California (Pa.) in a PSAC West matchup.  First pitch of Friday’s doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
