The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams enjoyed a strong day of competition at today’s Millersville Metrics meet.
The Bald Eagles were third overall and the Lady Eagles were fifth overall.
Leading the way for the Bald Eagles was Mitch Miller (Morrisville, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton), who won the men’s 5,000 meter run. Miller went to the front at the gun and his solo-effort ended with a PSAC qualifying time of 15:02.94.
Sean Harper (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) posted victory in the 400 meter dash with a PSAC time of 49.37.
Paul Stults (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) had a strong day for as well and posted The Haven’s third win of the day. He took home the title in the high jump with a PSAC standard of 6-04.75 and he added a third-place finish in the triple jump (43-10.75, PSAC) .
Alex Diltz (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown) and Zachary Mains (Coatesville, Pa./Millersville Univ.) went 2-4 in the 10,000 with PSAC qualifying times of 32:45.10 and 32:52.10, respectively.
Sean Norberg (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) was second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a PSAC time of 9:50.73.
The Bald Eagles were third in both the 4×400 (3:23.11) and 4×800 (8:17.50) meter relays.
The Haven women were led by a number of tremendous individual performances in the field events.
Fallon Heddings (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) and Brittany Whitmer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) both turned in second-place finishes for LHU.
Heddings was second in the triple jump with a mark of 36-01.25 (PSAC) and Whitmer tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 5-03.75 (PSAC).
Clarissa Winter (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) was fourth in the shot put with a PSAC mark of 36-10.50.
Melynda Beam (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) was fifth in the women’s 3,000 meter steeplechase with a PSAC qualifying time of 12:19.44.
Corina Robbins (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) turned in a sensational effort for the Lady Eagles in the 1,500 meter run. She was fifth with a PSAC mark of 4:57.84.
Jessica McDonald (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) ran a PSAC standard in the 5K with a time of 19:01.74. She was ninth overall.
The Lady Eagles were third in the 4×8 (10:19.06) and sixth in the 4×4 (4:08.54).
Lock Haven returns to action next weekend (Saturday & Sunday, April 13-14) at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic.
