Tickets cost $5 per person and $8 for a couple prior to the event. Tickets are being sold by health and physical education major. They are also sold at tables outside of Raub and Bentley. Costs will rise to $6 per person and $10 per couple at the doors.
Students should wear white shirts that can be written on with the highlighters. “A highlighter/black-light party is pretty unique. The room where the dance is held will get blacked out. Then, the black lights turn on and the atmosphere changes,” Nathan Hartleib, a junior health and physical education major, said.
A professional DJ will be there to provide music for the event, and there will be refreshments. Highlighters and T-shirts will also be available. A strobe light tailgate party is to be held afterwards in Zimmerli. “A highlighter party would be fun because it is something different. In addition, unlike formal dances, for this dance you get to show up in a white shirt and draw on each other with highlighters. It’s an overall different experience than a typical formal dance,” Hartleib said.
The money raised at this event will go toward helping the club with future trips and fundraisers. “Sounds like so much fun and it might be the ‘highlight’ of the semester,” said KaBrinna Splain, a junior majoring in psychology. If students have any other questions, they should contact Nathan Hartleib at firstname.lastname@example.org.
