The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team pulled away late from Millersville Saturday at Thomas Fieldhouse.
Rachael McDaniel scored 11 points to lead the Bald Eagles (9-14, 8-11 PSAC) to a 63-59 win. Lock Haven has won two in a row.
The game was tied at 55 with 2:33 to go in the second half, before Sami Lane scored on a layup to give Lock Haven a 57-55 lead. McDaniel then connected on a three pointer nearly a minute later to put Lock Haven up by five.
Millersville hit one of two free throws on their next possession to cut it to four, but Loren Kaiser hit a pair of free throws 20 seconds later for the Bald Eagles to push the lead to six.
Millersville added a late layup to cut it to four, but that is as close as the game would get.
Emily Daugherty scored 10 points and had four rebounds for Lock Haven, who had a very balanced scoring attack.
Alayah Hall led Millersville with 13 points and Aunjel van Brakle chipped in 12.
Lock Haven outscored Millersville 30-22 in the paint, and had a one point advantage in points off turnovers.
The game saw a weakness in free throw shooting for both teams, as Millersville hit just 17-34 and Lock Haven only hit 17-35.
