Senior Zach Mains was named the 2014-15 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and became the first Lock Haven Bald Eagle to earn the award since Ryan Blood did so in 2005-06.
Mains, who already received All-Region honors, was ranked No. 17 in all of Division II.
At the PSAC Championships, where he claimed All-PSAC honors, he recorded a personal-best and facility record time of 14:29:31 which was the fourth best mark in Lock Haven history.
In the 3,000m, Mains was ranked No. 3 in the PSAC with a time of 8:23:99. He posted a time of 8:42:39 in the same event at the PSAC Championships which saw him place ninth, just short of scoring in the event.
Mains career was marked by consistent improvement from year-to-year. In 2011, Mains posted a time of 9:14:92 in the 3,000m race. The 2012 season saw him run a 9:08:03 in the same event. Mains only participated in outdoor track and field in 2013, not indoor. However, he came back in 2014 to record a time of 8:40:97. Then, in his last season donning the Lock Haven uniform, Mains came back stronger than ever when he ran the 8:23:99.
Mains started his collegiate career at Millersville University, but transferred to Lock Haven after Millersville cut their men’s cross country and track and field programs.
