The Lock Haven University softball team dropped three out of four games to East Stroudsburg on Monday and Tuesday.
East Stroudsburg took game one from Lock Haven (10-18, 6-8 PSAC), 4-0.
East Stroudsburg scored all four runs in the top of the fourth, as Jamie Smith drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 1-0. Katherine Liedberg hit a three-run double to make it 4-0 in the top of the fourth. All runs were unearned.
Rachel Mouillesseaux tossed a complete game for Lock Haven, giving up seven hits, four unearned runs and striking out five, but picked up the loss.
In game two on Monday, East Stroudsburg broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning on a wild pitch to take a 3-2 lead. Mary Wallick singled to right field later in the eighth, putting East Stroudsburg up 4-2.
With Lock Haven trying to rally in the bottom of the eighth, Michelle Holweger hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Sarah Schwalm, but that’s all Lock Haven could muster, as they fell 4-3.
Jessie Probst took the loss for Lock Haven, throwing a complete game, giving up five hits, four runs (three earned), walking six and striking out two.
At East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, Lock Haven fell in game three of the series, 5-2.
Schwalm led off the game in the top of the first with her third homerun of the year, giving Lock Haven an early 1-0 lead.
East Stroudsburg tied the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning on a single by Cara Woods. They would take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third on a sac-fly.
Mouillesseaux helped her own cause in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to right, tying the game up at two.
East Stroudsburg scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, capping the scoring and walking away with a 5-2 win.
Mouillesseaux threw another complete game, going six innings, giving up 11 hits, five runs and striking out six.
Lock Haven was able to pick up a win in game four of the series, defeating East Stroudsburg 8-0.
Nicole Smith hit a sac-fly in the top of the third, scoring Jodi Weaknecht, to give Lock Haven a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles scored five in the fourth, started off by an RBI double by Kelsey Harris, scoring Probst. Paige Stuppy scored on a sac-fly by Schwalm, making it 3-0 Lock Haven.
Weaknecht followed up Schwalm by hitting a two-run homerun, scoring Harris, putting Lock Haven up 5-0. Holweger doubled to left, scoring McKenna Garlock, to make it 6-0.
Weaknecht knocked in her third run of the game on a sac-fly in the fifth, and Stuppy had an RBI single in the sixth, as Lock Haven went onto win 8-0.
Probst threw a complete game shutout for Lock Haven, giving up seven hits, walking none and striking out two.
Lock Haven will travel to Mansfield on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 1p.m.
