Second straight year: WBB clinches PSAC playoff spot

The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team clinched their second straight PSAC playoff berth on Wednesday, getting a little help from West Chester, who defeated Kutztown, 87-77.

The Bald Eagles will head to Millersville on Saturday to take on the Marauders at 1:00 p.m.

Lock Haven finished the regular season at 11-15 overall, going 8-14 in conference play.  Millersville will head into the postseason at 18-8, finishing conference play at 14-8.  Millersville defeated Lock Haven 71-64 in December and completed the sweep with a 61-55 win over Lock Haven earlier this month.

The Haven closed out the regular season with two straight road losses at Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg, respectively. 

Lock Haven finished the regular season with three players in double figure scoring, with senior J.J. Hilliard averaging 10.8 points per game and 4.0 assists per game.  Graduate student Rachael McDaniel averages 10.7 points per game for Lock Haven, followed by junior Mackenzie Livingston who averages 10.5.

Senior guard/forward Lysa Mealing leads the nation in rebounds per game at 13.5, including having two games with 20 or more rebounds.  In the regular season, Mealing grabbed a total of 323 rebounds, which is a single-season school record.  Mealing has recorded a total of 475 rebounds throughout her career up to this point.

Millersville leads the all-time series with Lock Haven at 35-19.
