The Lock Haven University baseball team (11-6) had their home opener last weekend against Penn State Schuylkill (4-5) in a doubleheader at Foundation Fields.
LHU took game one by a 2-1 score then won game two with a 9-0 shutout.
Heading into the bottom of the seventh up by 2 runs, PSU-Schuylkill scored one run with the tying run on third base. East Stroudsburg University transfer Nick Hornbaker gave the Bald Eagles a win in their home opener thanks to a 6-3-1 double play to end the game.
LHU won game two with a shutout thanks to outstanding pitching performances by Matt Lahn, Jacob Belinda, Zach Manuppelli and Brett Morrison. Belinda had five strikeouts in two innings to credit him with the win.
Evan McFarland went 3-for-3 in game two. Sam Kysor was perfect in two at-bats with a triple and two RBIs. Wake Forest transfer Jimmy Webb went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
The team then hosted the Golden Eagles of Clarion (3-12) on Tuesday. Lock Haven took game one by a 2-1 score and won game two by a 5-2 score. Pitcher Brett Morrison got his first win against Clarion in game one and Tom Cockill earned his first win of the season in game two.
Sam Kysor drove in the only two runs in the game in the bottom of the second to give the Bald Eagles the win in game one. Tyson Petersheim scored three runs in game two.
Lock Haven is currently on a seven-game winning streak.
The Lock Haven University baseball team will officially open the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) division season on the road at Shippensburg University on Good Friday with a doubleheader at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Lock Haven will then host Shippensburg at Foundation Fields on the day before Easter Sunday in another doubleheader and 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
