The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team defeated Gannon in a thriller, 2-1, which went to double overtime on Saturday. The win on Saturday boosted Lock Haven to 2-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)  play and 4-1-1 overall.

Lock Haven got on the board first in the match with Troy Amspacher scoring from 30 yards out in the 18th minute of play. The lead would last until the 51st minute when Gannon’s Hamza Mourchid converted off a penalty kick and tied the match at 1-1. The play continued through the second half and into the first overtime still tied at one all. Then, in the second overtime, Amspacher chipped the keeper from 30 yards out in the 103rd minute and gave Lock Haven the victory. Those were Amspacher’s eight and his ninth goals of the year. Amspacher is on a scoring tear early in the season, he has already amassed nine goals in only six matches of play. Amspacher was again named PSAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. He leads the PSAC in total points (19) and goals (9).

Lock Haven was out-shot 17-4 in the matchup and Gannon had seven corner kicks to Lock Haven’s one. The Bald Eagles’ play was a complete team effort and a hard fought victory.
